So, as Valentine’s Day is now just over two weeks away, I thought it was time to share some Valentine’s Day looks you’ll love, whether you’re planning a romantic date, a Galentine’s night with your favourite girls or spending the night with Netflix and Ben and Jerry, there’s an outfit here that will fit the bill!
Personally, I always find that Valentine’s Day is a bit like New Year’s Eve – lots of hype in advance and a lot of pressure to find something to do and the someone special to do it with. But the reality is, this should just be about having fun and a good excuse to show ourselves some self-love and treat ourselves to a new outfit, even if we don’t have a special plan!
Here are 5 Valentine’s Day Looks you’ll love.
I’m sharing a few Valentine’s Day looks, that you will love no matter what kind of plans you have. And, as I avoided any outfits with “hearts” they will also work for plenty of other occasions so you can get maximum use from them!
A Red Dress
After anything with hearts, a red dress is probably the most obvious choice for Valentine’s Day but the big advantage with a red dress is that you can wear it time and time again!
Red is the symbol of love, sensuality and passion, and it is usually associated with warmth. It is also the colour of attraction. In fact, men are statistically proven to spend more money on a date with a woman who wears red!
And did you know that flame scarlet is one of Pantone’s colours for 2020?
If you want to wear a red dress for Valentine’s Day, keep your accessories simple with a pair of black heels, and simple gold jewellery.
Here’s a selection of red dresses that would all fit the bill for Valentine’s Day!
A floaty dress
For an outfit that really wows, try something like this floaty dress from JJS House. It’s loose and flowy for comfort, but still shows off your curves in all the right places. To complete the look, consider high heels and simple accessories.
You can get 10% off any purchase from JJS House. with the code “JULIA10”, which is valid until February 29th.
A sleek jumpsuit
While a dress may be the “safe” choice for Valentine’s Day, a classy jumpsuit can be just as stunning and polished as a dress while being just that little bit different.
Personally, I prefer the more classic and elegant pieces in deep colours, such as black, grape, plum, emerald or navy, and I tend to steer clear of prints as I find them harder to wear.
In general, styles that are fitted at the waist and looser on the legs tend to be the most flattering. If you are tall, wide-leg jumpsuits will be the most flattering. If you are petite and you choose a wide-leg jumpsuit make sure to wear it with heels, and if you are very petite you may find that a slim, cropped style is more flattering for you.
Choose a sleek and well-tailored cut that flatters your figure, add some simple yet chic accessories, and you’re ready to go.
Dress up your jeans
However, if you prefer to look like you ‘just threw this old thing on’, or don’t want to look too ‘done’, you might feel more comfortable pairing your jeans with a sparkly top/ silk top / ruffles or feathered top.
I would opt for sophisticated dark blue or black jeans and pair them with:
- A sparkly metallic top
- A silky top
- A velvet top
- A transparent, sheer top
- Ruffles or a feather-embellished top
- A top with puff/ statement sleeves
Alternatively, you could opt for an elegant silk or satin kimono worn open over straight-leg jeans. It’s also a perfect solution if you’re going out straight from work, as you can just add the kimono and some heels at the last minute.
Here are a few of my kimono picks, which are guaranteed to add the wow factor to any outfit.
A Little Black Dress
Of course, a Valentine's Day list wouldn't be complete without a LBD. You can choose how much to dress it up or down, and you can even make some last minute changes if you're heading out straight from the office.
For example, pop a statement necklace or some dressy earrings in your bag and at the end of the day just add some bling.
You can dress it up with a sparkly clutch and some heels too!
Have a look at the selection below, all from JJ’s house, which would all be perfect for a Valentine's Day look and you can get 10% off any purchase from their site with the code “JULIA10”, which is valid until February 29th.
