Van Thuy Tu Temple – Located in Phan Thiet City in Binh Thuan Province, this exquisite temple was built in 1762 and it houses an amazing whale skeleton, along with many historical and cultural artefacts. The temple has strong ties with the fishing community in southern Vietnam, and they have tour guides who can tell you all about the colourful history of the temple. If you book your holiday through an established luxury tour operator, you can choose the temples you wish to visit, and you can also have a local English-speaking guide with you, which could prove invaluable in more ways than one.

Quan Cong Temple – Also known as the Quan Thanh Temple, this temple is located in the ancient town of Hoi An and was built in 1652 to honour General Van Quan Truong, who was said to be a man of great integrity who stood for justice. The walls are adorned with Chinese art using a combination of green, yellow and red, and there are many interesting buildings in the ancient city of Hoi An, which should be on your list of places to see.
