Today is National Denim Day, and so in this post, I want to share with you three styling tips for How to Wear Jeans.
For the past 17 years, ‘Peace Over Violence’ has run its Denim Day campaign on a Wednesday in April in honour of Sexual Violence Awareness Month, and this year National Denim Day is Wednesday April 27th.
So if you want to wear denim today to support ‘Peace Over Violence’ and need some inspiration, read on for three ways to wear jeans: – for casual, work and day to night.
How to wear jeans
Ways to wear jeans can vary depending on the style or the occasion, but don’t be afraid to experiment with new ways to wear jeans, and if you’re stuck for inspiration, here are three looks to try
Casual
How to wear jeans – Casual
For a casual look, I opted for pale blue skinny jeans, paired with a long, loose top to give balance.
I chose to finish the look with a burgundy suede jacket to pick up the burgundy hues in the top and ballet flats, which are a wardrobe staple, look classic when worn with jeans and are very comfortable if you’re on your feet all day!
The top is from Target and was a real bargain at under $20! You can see it better in the photo below.
Day to night
How to wear jeans – Day to Night
The basis of this look is straight legged dark denim jeans paired with a cream silk top and a soft beige suede jacket. I chose dark denim as it is more elegant for a night time look. Make your legs look extra long by wearing heels
To take from day to night, add a sparkly clutch or a statement necklace.
Also, the jacket, from Sandro, has detachable sleeves, and so you could unzip the sleeves for a more edgy look.
Work Style
How to wear jeans – Work
The combination of a blazer and jeans is stylish and timeless, and can be worn to the office for the majority of jobs.
For a classic look, pair a white tee and a navy blue jacket with dark denim, and keep your shirt tucked in if you’re wearing it to work.
Thanks to the ultra-tapered hem on skinny jeans, the shoes we choose to wear will always be on display, and the choice of shoes from a pair of strappy sandals, stilettos through to a set of chunky moto boots, will change the entire look and feel of the outfit.
I chose these chunky sandals to give a bit more of an edgy vibe and added a statement necklace to dress the outfit up. However, depending on your office environment, you may prefer to wear court shoes and more discreet jewellery.
